Due to its timeliness, Anderson raised the question as to whether politicians were similar to magicians. Specifically, he focused on the power of "patter" - a magicians' term for the words spoken during a magic trick.

Two other magicians, both close friends of mine, Mark Levy and Harry Lorayne also appear in the broadcast. There are a few other very recognizable voices too. Click the play button, and see if you can figure them out!

Here’s the text directly from the Studio 360 website:

Magic Politicians

A good magic trick isn’t just a trick – it’s a story wrapped around a trick. Magicians distract their audiences with professional smooth talk called patter, and it sounds eerily similar to what politicians deliver in debates and on the stump. Magicians Steve Cohen, Mark Levy and Harry Lorayne break down the power of patter.

Back in August 2007, the popular radio host Joan Hamburg did an extensive broadcast about Chamber Magic® at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel. She and her daughter Liz spoke about the show for about 8 or 9 minutes.

I recently figured out how to record and edit an MP3 file, and am delighted to offer this broadcast to you here. Click on the logo below to listen.

The instant this broadcast aired, we sold thousands (!) of tickets – enough that I needed to double the number of shows at the Waldorf. Thank you, Joan and Liz Hamburg!

I hope you enjoy listening.

(PS: The info at the end of the broadcast has changed – so please don’t call the old telephone numbers that they mention.)
